Please Note

All student mail is sent to the UNCG Business Center located in 106 Moran Commons (the UNCG Dining Hall).

Packages are not available for pickup until they have been processed by UNCG Postal Services. You will receive an email from [email protected] at your iSpartan address when your packages are ready. Shipping carriers often send delivery notices when they reach Greensboro – not when your package is ready to be retrieved. Please look for our email!

Spartan Mail strongly recommends residential students add [email protected] to their Microsoft Outlook contacts. This will reduce the possibility of notifications being marked as Spam.

Unfortunately, Commuter Students are not eligible for mail pick-up from Spartan Mail at this time. The physical location does not allow for that volume of mail to be managed properly. Mail sent to campus for a Commuter Student will be returned-to-sender. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

The University receives mail on days that both the US Postal Service and Spartan Mail are open. Please check our hours and contact information before sending any time-sensitive mailings. If you need assistance verifying hours or service, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Address Format for Sending Mail to Students

Example envelope with correct addressing information for sending mail to UNCG students.
Example envelope addressing.

Incoming student mail, both letters and packages, must be addressed in the following format. Failure to do so will result in the mail being returned to sender.

If your iSpartan contains an underscore (_), please leave a space in place of the underscore when entering your address. Most computer systems will try to read this as a special character and refuse the address. Leaving the space will allow the address to go through. Our employees know how to handle this situation when we receive parcels.

Sending Mail to Students

You must keep your Housing Assignment to receive mail at UNCG.

All mail sent to students living on campus from off campus addresses must use Zip Code 27413. This includes all USPS, FedEx, UPS, and DHL deliveries. Improper addressing may cause your mail to be returned-to-sender. Mail and packages will be stored for pick-up at your postal location. A notice will be emailed to your iSpartan address as soon as your mail is ready for pickup. Once you receive notification, please stop by with your pickup code and photo identification to collect your mail or package.

Special Note Regarding Perishable Food packages and Direct Delivery/Grocery Orders:

Due to safety concerns (both for the Spartan Mail office as well as the greater Dining facility housed in the same location), Meal Subscription, Online Market, or any other Sealed Perishable Food packages must be picked up within three (3) days from the date of your notification (please note this does include weekends in the number of days). After the allotted time, these packages will be returned-to-sender to avoid any potential health risk.

In addition, Spartan Mail is not equipped or staffed to handle Direct Delivery orders, such as Instacart, Wal-Mart+, or other unpackaged grocery services. These types of orders will be refused out of necessity.

If you are Having Issues Submitting your UNCG Address on Websites:

  1. Make sure you are using the proper iSpartan address format.
    • If your iSpartan contains an underscore ( _ ), use a blank space instead (i.e. j_doe would be j doe)
  2. Third-party websites and services often attempt to verify your physical address before shipping your order. Residential students do not have a physical address for shipping. The UNCG student zip code, 27413, is an official USPS zip code specifically designed to support the iSpartan notification and box system.
    • If you are having trouble, it is likely due to the website’s verification process on address line one. Some websites may allow you or an employee at a shipping location to bypass/override their address verification.
    • As long as you are using zip code 27413 and following our address format, you will receive your mail.

Mail Forwarding

If you would like your USPS mail/packages forwarded for the summer, you will need to submit a forwarding form with Spartan Mail. Your forwarding request will:

  • Direct your USPS mail/packages to a temporary address
  • Send your mail piece by piece to the new address (excluding bulk/junk mail and other items we do not normally assign)
  • Not be approved for less than 30 days or longer than 1 year

To request temporary mail forwarding, please review the information on our forwarding form. Due to the nature of University addressing, you will not be able to forward mail TO your University address. All online profiles and vendors will need to have your shipping address updated to the University iSpartan address format.

Historically a forwarded item will take approximately 10 business days to be processed by USPS for the new address. Additional time from the receiving facility to your address will vary based on distance.

Due to contractual limitations, Spartan Mail is unable to forward packages from non-USPS couriers.

  • When graduating, leaving UNCG or moving off campus, it is your responsibility to contact your friends, family, businesses, etc. to update your address. It is wise to submit this in advance of leaving, if possible, due to delays that many providers experience.
  • If you have food, magazine, or service subscriptions or catalogues, you will need to notify the company of your address change. Similarly, you will need to update your shipping information with all online retailers.
  • IMPORTANT: All mail must be addressed correctly or it will be returned to sender.

To request permanent mail forwarding (1 Year – USPS Limit), please review the information on our forwarding form.
